Sodium cyanide

- Sodium cyanide is soluble in water and can be rapidly hydrolyzed to release hydrocyanic acid gas; 

- It has a certain degree of corrosiveness and can react with many substances such as acid, sulfur, halogen, etc.; 

- Sodium cyanide is a strong reducing agent that can react with oxygen to form sodium cyanide salt. 

It is used in industry to extract precious metals such as gold and silver. In the chemical industry, it is a raw material for the manufacture of various inorganic cyanides and the generation of hydrocyanic acid. It is also used to manufacture copolymers of organic glass, various synthetic materials, nitrile rubber, and synthetic fibers.
